Top 100 Brands Report

Now in its tenth year, ACNielsen's Top 100 Brands Report continues to generate much interest and feedback in the grocery industry, and also the occasional debate about what in fact constitutes a ‘brand’.

Defining a brand is difficult and manufacturers take different views on what comprises a brand, a sub-brand, an umbrella brand and a manufacturer total. In this report, there are two lists. The top 100 brands are defined as a brand within a category. The top 25 umbrella brands apply to brand names which cross grocery categories, or where the sub-brands can be viewed as brand names in their own right.

The figures are derived from ACNielsen | ScanTrack, covering the supermarket sector that includes most major grocery categories.
